A New Tech School Model In NC Prepares Students to Work
If we want to create a program to train work-ready students, we need to give them real world tools and experience! That is the philosophy being employed at an exciting new tech degree program at the Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, NC.
It is a thing of beauty. A brand new shop, state-of-the-art equipment, and students beaming ear to ear as they show off their shop. Any collision repairer would be proud of this facility and the excitement of the “staff.” The fact that this is a technical school and not the newest location in a chain of collision shops is not only impressive but encouraging.
This week our industry witnessed an accomplishment that is a long time coming. All of the key stakeholders in our industry coming together to create the opportunity to teach the next generation of technicians the right way to repair today’s complex vehicles with the right equipment, on current vehicles. From the government to local shop owners and insurance company exec’s everyone who needs to be involved to make a school to jobs effort like this work came to the table.
It is my sincere hope that this program not only succeeds but that this model can be shared across our industry to change the way that we bring people into collision repair!
